Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22.10.2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Noah James Design Ltd (“Noah James”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit noahjamesjewellery.com (the “Site”), make a purchase, or work with us on a bespoke piece. Noah James Design Ltd is the data controller for your personal information.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you place an order, make an enquiry or commission a bespoke piece, we collect information such as your name, billing and delivery addresses, email address, phone number and payment details. For bespoke work, this may also include your design preferences, ring size, any images or sketches you share with us, engraving text, and our correspondence with you.
Information collected automatically. When you browse the Site, we collect certain information about your device and how you use the Site. This includes your IP address, browser type, time zone, the pages and products you view, how you arrived at the Site, and how you interact with it. We collect this using cookies, log files, and similar technologies such as pixels and tags.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- process and deliver your orders, including payment, shipping, invoices and order confirmations;
- design, make and deliver bespoke pieces, and provide aftercare such as resizing and repairs;
- communicate with you about your order, enquiry or commission;
- screen orders for potential fraud;
- improve our Site and understand how customers use it;
- send you marketing about our products and services, where you have agreed to this; and
- meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Our legal basis for using your information
Under UK data protection law, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to process your orders and carry out bespoke commissions.
- Legal obligation: to keep financial records required by HMRC.
- Legitimate interests: to prevent fraud, improve our Site and run our business, where this does not override your rights.
- Consent: for marketing emails, non-essential cookies, and featuring your images on social media. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Who we share your information with
We only share your information where necessary, with trusted third parties including:
- Shopify, which powers our online store (shopify.com/legal/privacy);
- Payment providers, to process payments securely;
- Couriers and delivery services, to deliver your order;
- Our manufacturing and design partners, such as workshops and CAD designers, who receive only the design details needed to make your piece;
- Google Analytics, to help us understand how visitors use our Site (you can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout); and
- Our accountants and business software providers, for bookkeeping and record keeping.
We may also share information where required by law, or to protect our rights. We never sell your personal information.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to make the Site work, such as keeping items in your basket. We only use non-essential cookies, such as analytics and advertising cookies, with your consent, which you can give or withdraw through our cookie banner. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. For more information, visit allaboutcookies.org.
Advertising
With your consent, we may use your information to show you relevant adverts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Google. You can manage your ad preferences in the settings of each platform, or at youronlinechoices.com/uk.
Marketing
We will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them or have previously bought from us and not opted out. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us.
Use of images on social media
We love sharing the pieces we create and the people who wear them. We will only post a photo of you, or one that you have sent us, with your permission. We will always ask before posting, whether the photo was taken by us (for example, at a collection) or sent to us by you. When you tag or mention us in your own posts, we may ask your permission to reshare them.
We may share photographs of finished pieces on their own, without identifying you, as part of our portfolio. Your name and personal details will never be shared without your agreement. If you’d prefer we didn’t share your piece at all, or if it’s a surprise (such as an engagement ring before a proposal), just let us know and we won’t post it.
Noah James retains ownership of the designs we create, unless otherwise agreed in writing at the point of sale, and we may share images of finished pieces as part of our portfolio. If your piece is a surprise, such as an engagement ring before a proposal, just let us know and we’ll wait until you’re happy for it to be shared.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, including Shopify and Google, may process your information outside the UK, including in the EEA, Canada and the United States. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.
How long we keep your information
- Order and financial records: 6 years, as required by HMRC.
- Bespoke design records: for as long as needed to support aftercare such as resizing, repairs and remakes, unless you ask us to delete them.
- Enquiries that don’t lead to an order: up to 2 years.
- Marketing preferences: until you unsubscribe.
Keeping your information secure
We take appropriate measures to protect your personal information. Payment details are processed securely by our payment providers and are not stored by us.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information;
- ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it;
- object to or restrict how we use your information;
- request a copy of your information in a portable format; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concerns first, so please contact us.
